Ready4 Voice analysts have often struggled with the problem of having three-dimensional data to represent on a two-dimensional surface.

Several meteorologists have calculated that one individual should be struck each week by lightning.

A=\{2,3,x,y\}

B=\{x,y,5,6,7\}

Two integers will be randomly selected, one integer from set A and one integer from set B. What is the probability that the sum of the two integers will equal 7?

(1) x=3

(2) y=4

The design of an ancient pyramid suggests that the population who built the structure had developed the solar calendar. The exterior walls of the partly ruined pyramid consist of four successive stairways, and if a platform at the top of the structure is imagined as a single step atop four stairways of 91 steps each, the total number of steps corresponds to the number of days in the year according to the solar calendar.

Which of the following, if true, most strongly supports the hypothesis?

An architect is planning to incorporate several stone spheres of different sizes into the landscaping of a public park, and workers who will be applying a finish to the exterior of the spheres need to know the surface area of each sphere. The finishing process costs $92 per square meter. The surface area of a sphere is equal to $$4\pi{r^2}$$Rwhere r is the radius of the sphere.In the table, select the value that is closest to the cost of finishing a sphere with a 5.50-meter circumference as well as the cost of finishing a sphere with a 7.85-meter circumference. Make only two selections, one in each column.
PREP07 Test 2 For each order, a mail-order bookseller charges a fixed processing fee and an additional shipping fee for each book in the order. Rajeev placed five different orders with this bookseller--an order for 1 book in January, an order for 2 books in February, an order for 3 books in March, an order for 4 books in April, and an order for 5 books in May. What was the total of Rajeev's processing and shipping fees for these five orders? (1) Rajeev's processing and shipping fees were $1.00 more for his order in March than for his order in January. (2) The total of Rajeev's shipping fees for the five orders was $7.50.
Io and Europa, the inner two of Jupiter's four largest moons, are about the size of Earth's moon and are composed mostly or entirely of rock and metal. Ganymede and Callisto are larger and roughly half ice. Thus, these four moons are somewhat analogous to the planets of the solar system, in which the rock- and metal-rich inner planets are distinct from the much larger gas- and ice-rich outer planets. Jupiter's moons are, however, more “systematic”: many of their properties vary continuously with distance from Jupiter. For example, Io is ice-free, Europa has a surface shell of ice, and while Ganymede and Callisto are both ice-rich, outermost Callisto has more.This compositional gradient has geological parallels. Io is extremely geologically active, Europa seems to be active on a more modest scale, and Ganymede has undergone bouts of activity in its geological past. Only Callisto reveals no geological activity. In similar fashion, Callisto's surface is very heavily cratered from the impact of comets and asteroids; Ganymede, like Earth's moon, is heavily cratered in parts; Europa is very lightly cratered; and no craters have been detected on lo, even though [hl:6][hl:5][hl:4][hl:3][hl:2][hl:1]Jupiter's gravity[/hl:1][/hl:2][/hl:3][/hl:4][/hl:5][/hl:6] attracts comets and asteroids passing near it, substantially increasing the bombardment rate of the inner moons compared to that of the outer ones. But because of Io's high degree of geological activity, its surface undergoes more-or-less continuous volcanic resurfacing.

Last year, Energy Corp's oil sales increased suddenly in the region of lower Ossamia. The Chief Financial Officer of the company explained this increase as the result of industrialization in the developing Ossamian nation of Mirmu. He predicts that, consequently, trade made possible by industrialization will grow between Mirmu and its Ossamian neighbors this year, leading to further increases in Energy Corp sales in the region.

Each of the following, if true, provides some support for the CFO's prediction described above EXCEPT:

A computer generates paths along the vertices of the parallelogram above. It moves in such a way that its path always consists of a side, a diagonal, and then a side and it never ends at the same vertex it begins with, i.e., PQ → QOS → SR. For each vertex on a path, the computer generates a random number. The sum of the numbers on one diagonal is equal to the sum on the other. For a given path, what is the number generated for vertex P?1. The sum of Q and R is always 15 and S carries number 4.2. The intersection of the diagonals, O,carries number 2.

Today, because of the greater efficiency of communicating online, a typical business meeting is attended by double the people that it has been in 1995.

If a=−0.5, then each of the following must be true EXCEPT.

A proposed ordinance would impose a 10 p.m. curfew on all city residents under the age of 18 in response to increasing thefts by adolescents. However, a city councilman argued that because the majority of adolescents who steal do so during the day, the curfew would have a negligible impact on the total value of property stolen.Which of the following, if true, would most seriously weaken the argument drawn by the councilman above?

The term "negative feedback" comes originally not from psychology, but from electronics, which uses the term to describe a part of a circuit that detects a positive signal and that, in response, takes action to diminish that signal.

The number of pages in each book and the order in which she plans to read the books are shown in the table above. She will read exactly 50 pages each day. The only exception will be that she will never begin the next book on the same day that she finishes the previous one, and therefore on some days she may read fewer than 50 pages. At the end of the 28th day, how many books will Shawana have finished?
Ready4 The company was convinced that the design of the new 3-D television should be such that the picture quality and 3-D effect would appear the same to someone not wearing an auxiliary headset as a person wearing traditional 3-D glasses.

Certain political lobbies in the United States are lobbying for legislation that would make companies responsible under American law if their overseas affiliates and subsidiaries use child labor, on the grounds that American companies are responsible for upholding human rights wherever they operate. Such reasoning is obviously flawed. After all, no one suggests that domestically-owned companies obey the American environmental standards in overseas subsidiaries.
